Proxy Bidding
When you place a bid, enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for that item. This amount will always be kept secret. Whenever someone else places a bid, our auction software will automatically enter the lowest possible bid for you, up to your maximum bid, until you are the winning bidder.
At the end of an auction, if you are the high bidder, you are the winner. As the winner of the auction, you only pay the lowest possible winning bid, not necessarily your maximum bid.
When Proxy Bidding is in effect, it can appear as if one bidder has beat another bidder with the same bid amount. This is normal and occurs when a bidder has a proxy bid in effect and a second bidder comes along and makes their bid at the exact same amount the current proxy bid is at. Since the proxy bid was placed earlier, that is the bid that will succeed. For the second bidder to succeed in placing a bid, they must bid higher than the proxy bid that is in effect.
All internet based bids are subject to bids made in person after the Auction Closing Time. These bids will not appear in the Bidding Centre
Bidding Increments
After you place your maximum bid the ERAuctions system will place a bid for you. This bid will marginally beat all other bidders by the following increments:
| Current Bid | Increment |
| $0 - $20 | $1 |
| $20 - $50 | $2 |
| $50 - $100 | $5 |
| $100 - $500 | $10 |
| $500 - $1000 | $20 |
| $1000 - $3000 | $50 |
| $3000 - $5000 | $100 |
| $5000 - $10000 | $200 |
| $10000 - $50000 | $500 |
| O ver $50000 | $1000 |
If you hold the winning bid but your maximum bid is below the increment, the current bid will become your maximum bid.
Multiple Items
Some auctions offer multiple identical items for sale. These auctions can have many winners.
To bid on multiple items you must enter the maximum bid amount for one item, as well as the quantity you wish to purchase.
For example - There may be 20 Dozen Bottles of Wine - You can bid $30 per dozen and select quantity 4, this means you are willing to pay $30 for each dozen and will have to take 4 dozen (it is not $30 for 4 Dozen bottles of wine).
Maximum bidding applies to multiple items in the same way it applies to single items.
Bids are displayed in the following way: The person at the top of the list has bid the most, the person at the bottom has bid the least. As the amount of the current bid goes up, those on the bottom of the list drop off.
Please check to make sure your name is in the list as it is possible to place a bid at the current bid and not be included in the list, it will depend on what other bidders have done. If you bid higher than the current bid and the current bid then moves up to match the amount you bid but you are not the highest bidder this means the other person bid the same amount as you did - but before you - so they get priority.
